Lori Miller, Senior Program Manager

Lori brings to AVAC extensive experience living and working in Africa, primarily on public health programs and research, with a focus on HIV. Prior to joining AVAC, Lori worked as a Senior Project Officer with the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs at Columbia University, supporting the roll out and expansion of HIV care and treatment programs at public sector health facilities in Kenya. Previously, she worked for the Harvard School of Public Health coordinating microbicides studies in Tanzania through the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN). While living in Tanzania, Lori facilitated trial site set-up and implementation of studies in research naïve locations. She also served in the Peace Corps as a science teacher in Eritrea. Lori is a Swahili speaker and learned Tigrinya while in the Peace Corps. Lori has a Master of Health Science from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Global Disease Epidemiology and Control and a BA in Biology from Grinnell College.
