Information Collected
AVAC collects the following donor information:
- contact information: name, organization/company, complete address, phone number, email address,
- donation information: amounts donated, date of donation(s) and method,
- requests and comments,
- non-personally identifiable information, such as how many hits each AVAC website page receives, and if the visitor is repeat or new.
No Sharing of Personal Information
AVAC will not sell, rent, trade or disclose donors’ personal information to any third parties, and we never sell, rent, lease or exchange personal information with other organizations. The identity of all who connect with us through our website, postal mail and email is kept confidential. Use of donor information is limited to the internal purposes of AVAC, by authorized individuals, and only to advance its mission. Security measures may not prevent all losses, and AVAC is not responsible for any damages or liabilities relating to security failures. In the event security failures or disclosures violate federal or state laws, AVAC will follow all applicable federal and state notification requirements to make you aware of what happened.
How Information is Used
AVAC uses donor data to maintain records of donations, send acknowledgements, send newsletters, notices, and direct mail pieces.
We add donors to our mailing list unless they request otherwise. Our third-party e-mail service is contractually obligated to treat the lists with confidentiality and is prohibited from transferring them elsewhere.
We do not list individuals’ names in ANY of our publications. Governmental and Foundation sponsors are listed on our website.
Credit card numbers are not retained once processed.
Donations over 2% of our entire budget must be reported on IRS Form 990, Schedule B.
We collect anonymized data on website usage. Our website has a SSL certificate.
