Sharon focused on addressing key challenges faced by people who inject drugs (PWID) in accessing healthcare services in Botswana, with a particular focus on HIV prevention and harm reduction services. She combined traditional outreach with cutting-edge advocacy. Sharon coordinated stakeholder roundtable discussions and an awareness campaign to advocate for policy reforms that support harm reduction services and improve PWID access to HIV prevention and testing. Through her insights from the engagements, sShe developed a policy brief recommending reforms focused on decriminalizing drug use and expanding PWID access to essential HIV services.
Her advocacy brief transformed drug rehabilitation and harm reduction for PWIDs which is still a focus of her work.
