Elizabeth Zahabu

2024 Advocacy Navigator (Tanzania)

Elizabeth worked on multiple fronts in Tanzania, training young activists while advocating for improved health services and policies. Through AVAC’s Advocacy Navigator program, she led a bold initiative to introduce STI self-testing kits, distributing 250 syphilis kits and equipping adolescent girls and young women with tools for early detection and care.

Her engagement with traditional leaders fostered community-wide support for reproductive rights, while her mobile outreach initiative brought services directly to remote and marginalized communities. Elizabeth’s lobbying efforts achieved tangible results contributing to increased government funding for local clinics.
