Alison Footman, PhD, MPH is the Senior Program Manager of STIs at AVAC, where she leads the organization’s STI advocacy portfolio. Her work focuses on advancing awareness, policy, and equitable access for STI vaccines, diagnostics, and other prevention strategies. Alison helps lead collaborations across the STI, HIV, and sexual and reproductive health fields and supports initiatives connected to STIWatch, AVAC’s platform focused on accelerating action in STI prevention.
Alison joined AVAC in 2023, bringing research experience in STI vaccine and diagnostics, vaccine hesitancy, and implementation science. Prior to joining AVAC, Alison completed a postdoctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital where her research focused on improving HPV vaccination uptake in the US, including work examining HPV vaccination attitudes among LGBTQIA+ populations. She received her MPH from Yale School of Public Health and PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
