Maureen is AVAC’s senior advisor for global policy. In this role, she helps lead the organization’s policy advocacy efforts and initiatives extending from Africa to the global stage. Maureen is a public health practitioner and early career researcher with over fourteen years’ experience in the design and implementation of sexual reproductive health (SRH), HIV/AIDS, and health systems strengthening programs in East and Southern Africa.
Before joining AVAC, Maureen was HIV technical Advisor at Cooper Smith, where she supported the organization’s efforts to improve and promote health information access and use through digital health innovations.
She was an AVAC Fellow and a Global Change Leadership Fellow in 2015 and a Women in Global Health Lead fellow in 2019. She holds a Master of Medical Sciences degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor or Arts Degree from the University of Malawi. When she is not working, Maureen enjoys spending time on her farm.
