Roberta is the Senior Program Manager: MEL at AVAC where she leads development, implementation and continuous improvement of AVAC’s organizational and project-level MEL strategies. In this role, Roberta oversees all MEL initiatives at AVAC, including developing MEL tools and data collection procedures, training and supporting staff to implement MEL activities, monitoring program progress, and ensuring high-quality timely reporting to donors. Since joining AVAC, Roberta designed and launched AVAC’s organizational MEL framework to monitor progress toward our 5-year strategic plan, designed and conducted AVAC’s first-ever Partnership Scorecard to assess the health of partnerships, and has supported AVAC staff and partners on the use of MEL tools to improve project-level monitoring and reporting.
Prior to joining AVAC, Roberta was a Strategic Information Specialist at ICAP at Columbia University where she provided technical support and guidance on the design and scale-up of M&E, health information and surveillance systems for HIV prevention, care, and treatment service delivery, TB, malaria, immunization, infection prevention control, and national technical assistance projects. She primarily focused on projects in Angola, Cote D’Ivoire, Mozambique, Myanmar and Sierra Leone, and worked collaboratively with in-country colleagues to develop tailored, context-specific MEL systems and tools.
Roberta joined AVAC in 2020, bringing over 10 years of experience in developing MEL systems, designing data visualization products, and promoting the use of data for decision-making. She uses innovative MEL approaches and tools to document the impact of advocacy work and cultivate MEL expertise among her colleagues.
