December 1, 2014
December 1 marks World AIDS Day around the globe and there are myriad activities, events and articles in recognition. Here are a selection of materials from AVAC, its partners and a few choice media pieces.
AVAC along with a number of partners released an advertisement appearing in Politico calling for the US Congress to stay committed to defeating global HIV/AIDS with leadership and increased financial resources. View the ad by clicking the image to the left.
AVAC has also developed an issue brief, HIV Prevention on the Line, and other advocacy tools that frames key issues for HIV prevention advocates. We will bring out a full report and analysis in AVAC Report 2014/15, early in the new year.
Members of our Fellows program are publishing their perspective on this year’s World AIDS Day. Here are a few (this page will be updated when more are available):
- Kenya: Deliver HIV prevention tools to young women — Everlyne Ombati
- Why are discordant couples not being provided with PrEP treatment? — Charles Brown
