The future of HIV prevention won’t build itself—it will be built by communities.
AVAC is proud to release the CASPR Impact Report: Celebrating Growth, Inspiring the Future, celebrating what is possible when long-term investment in African leadership, partnerships and coalition-based advocacy is matched with shared purpose. CASPR, the Coalition to Accelerate and Support Prevention Research, proved that community-led coalitions are central to turning innovation into action, and ensuring that advances in HIV prevention are shaped by the people they are meant to serve.
From 2016 through 2025, CASPR built an Africa-led movement that connected communities, researchers, policymakers, journalists and funders to transform HIV prevention advocacy. At our recent webinar, The Future Won’t Build Itself: Lessons from CASPR and the Future of Africa-Led HIV Prevention Advocacy, CASPR partners Chilufya Kasanda, Ida Jooste and Yvette Raphael delivered powerful remarks on the impact of CASPR and how they’re carrying its legacy forward.
In addition, our latest blog post, by AVAC’s Breanne Lievense and Navita Jain and CASPR partner Barbra Ncube from Pangaea Zimbabwe, reflects on CASPR’s legacy and how community leadership shaped research agendas, improved accountability and helped accelerate the translation of scientific discovery into public health impact.
