Innovation and R&D in Post-2015 Development

May 4, 2015

Where does R&D fit in the post-2015 development agenda that to date has stressed health, but not the research and implementation outcomes critical to making healthy lives a reality? The Global Health Technologies Coalition (GHTC), a group of more than 25 nonprofit organizations working to increase awareness of the urgent need for technologies that save lives in the developing world, has been hosting a series of webinars exploring the possibilities of innovation and access in the post-2015 sustainable development goals (SDGs).

A video of their April 28th webinar on health innovation in the 2015 agenda can be viewed here. The next GHTC webinar on how product developers can work to achieve access throughout the R&D process will be held on May 18th — register here.

Health access and innovation remain essential to the post 2015 discussion. As was made clear on April 28th, the world will not reach any of the post-2015 goals without a focus on health and without new options and interventions to support healthy lives.
