Wawira directs AVAC’s Product Introduction and Access program, including the BioPIC project on longer-acting PrEP, AVAC’s role in the MOSAIC project, and the Dual Prevention Pill (DPP) Consortium. She works closely with AVAC’s Executive Director to provide vision and leadership for strategic planning, strategic partnerships, project management, and implementation to ensure delivery of all product introduction commitments.
Previously, Wawira served with PSI Kenya/PS Kenya for over a decade in various capacities including Director of Strategy & Innovations, where she supported programs in the design and implementation of highly effective marketing, communication and service delivery interventions addressing various public health issues.
Wawira joined AVAC in 2022 and brings with her more than 15 years of health communications and marketing experience working with different organizations including WHO, Mann Global Health, and Palladium, across Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. Wawira holds a Master’s Degree in Social Communications and BA in Social Sciences, both from Gregorian Pontifical University in Italy. When not working Wawira enjoys spending quiet time in her country farm looking after her animals.
